Assessment Overview
Goals
Assessment is part of our effort towards continuously improving our undergraduate programs.
Overall, instructors should use this process to IMPROVE their courses.
Using a cycle of observation, measurement, analysis, and modification instructors (and the UAC) can identify what works and what does not and where students are struggling. This also helps the department identify where resources are needed within the curriculum.
Measuring students' achievement in the ABET Student Outcomes (1 through 7) is an essential part of ABET accreditation.
Not only does maintaining accreditation ensure our curriculum is "in touch" with the reality of the CEE profession, graduating from an ABET accredited program is CRUCIAL for the career advancement of our graduates!
The data collected provides ABET evidence that of the progress and growth of our students within the curriculum and across our the review period.
